Terms of use
These terms are the rules for using Beerable, the app for posting the beers you drink and following people, beers and breweries. Beerable is run by Tony Jara ("we"). By continuing with Google or Apple on the app's welcome screen, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Beerable. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
Who can use Beerable
- You must be of legal drinking age in the country where you live, and never younger than 18. In Paraguay that is 20; in the United States, 21.
- We ask for your date of birth and country when you sign up. If you are under the age for your country, we delete what you entered and you cannot use the app.
- One account per person. You are responsible for what happens in your account, so keep your Google or Apple account safe.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content
There is no place on Beerable for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not post, comment, or put in your profile or in the catalogue:
- harassment, bullying, threats or hate against anyone, including for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age;
- sexual or pornographic content, or violence;
- anything that shows or encourages drinking by minors;
- anything that encourages excessive or dangerous drinking, drinking games or contests, or drinking and driving;
- spam, advertising, or offers to sell alcohol or anything else;
- other people's personal information, or photos of people who did not agree to appear;
- content you do not have the right to share, or that breaks the law;
- pretending to be another person, brewery or company.
How moderation works
- You can report any post, comment, profile, beer or brewery from the app. Reports go to our moderators, who review them within 24 hours.
- Moderators can remove content, warn an account or ban it. A banned account loses access, and its content is no longer shown. Serious or repeated breaches lead to a ban without a warning first.
- A post or comment reported by three different people is hidden until a moderator has reviewed it.
- A word filter blocks some words in usernames, reviews and comments. It does not catch everything; reports do the rest.
- You can block any user. Blocking hides their content from you and yours from them, removes the follows between you, and stops them liking or commenting on your posts.
- Moderators can also verify, edit or merge beers and breweries to keep the catalogue tidy.
- If you think we got a decision wrong, write to support@beerableapp.com.
Your posts
- The posts, reviews, comments and photos you publish remain yours.
- So that Beerable can work, you give us a worldwide, free, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, resize and show them in the app and on beerableapp.com while they are on Beerable. The licence ends when you delete them or your account, except for copies in backups, which are deleted within 30 days.
- Your posts, your comments, your profile and the people, beers and breweries you follow are public to other Beerable users.
What you add to the catalogue
- When you add or edit a beer or a brewery (its name, brewery, style, alcohol content, description or label photo), you give Beerable a worldwide, free, perpetual and irrevocable licence to use, change, combine, publish and pass on that contribution, also under an open licence, and to let others do the same. We do not need to ask you again, and the licence continues after you delete your account.
- Only add information that is true and that you are allowed to share. Do not copy descriptions or photos from websites or other apps.
- Beers and breweries you added stay in the catalogue after you delete your account, without your name.
Drinking responsibly
Beerable is for recording and sharing the beers you enjoy, not for drinking more. Drink in moderation, never drink and drive, and know your limits.
Deleting your account
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile, Settings, Delete account. You are signed out at once, and your profile, posts, photos, comments, likes, follows and notifications are deleted shortly after.
- You can also ask for deletion on the web, at beerableapp.com/delete-account. We complete those requests within 30 days.
- We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms.
Beerable as it is
We work to keep Beerable running and the catalogue right, but the app is offered as it is: we cannot promise that it is always available, that it is free of errors, or that every beer's details are correct. Ratings and reviews are the opinions of users, not ours.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. If a change matters, we tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Beerable after that, you accept the new terms.
